Basic Guidelines to Start Study in IGNOU for the new learners.
Once the admission is confirmed and attended the Induction programme, being the distance learner, the student has to devote some time for the studies. In order to carry out the study without any difficulties, the student has to follow some guidelines.
Study materials:

If you wait for hard copy study material you may lose your precious time and IGNOU exams are conducted timely in June and December every year.

So you are advised to refer the softcopy material (till your receive Hard copy study material) write your assignment and submit to the study center without wasting time.

You may download the softcopy material from e-gyankosh.
The first thing to begin with is Study Materials. After admission confirmation it may take some to receive the hard copy of the study materials from IGNOU Head quarter, Delhi.

First read your Programme guide very carefully for knowing the regulation/ procedures of IGNOU.

Counselling classes:

The schedule for the counseling and practical sessions will be prepared and sent to you by the study centre to which you are attached.

Attend the theory counseling classes where you can get academic support. However it is not mandatory.

75 percent practical class is compulsory.
It may be difficult for you to sustain motivation for completing your studies if you are adult learner and simultaneously engaged in various other activities like jobs, household responsibility, taking care of old aged parents etc while pursuing your studies. Constant interaction with your peer group and Study Center would certainly develop a sense of belongingness and create positive environment for learning.
