IGNOU RR ( Re-registration) started for July 2026 Session ignou re-registration

IGNOU RR ( Re-registration) has started for July 2026 Session. This link is opened in two session every year i.e. January and July. It is open for all programmes offered in ODL /Online mode.

All eligible student of ODL and OL programme can now apply for IGNOU RR.

IGNOU Re-registration (RR) last date and Fee

As of now Re-registration last date is 15 January 2026. RR last date is extended in different phase with or without Late FEE. Re-Registration fee varies from programme to programme and final calculated amount will be displayed at the time of submission of RR Form.

What is IGNOU Re-Registration

IGNOU uses the terminology "Re-Registration(RR)" for taking admission in the next year of study. RR is not applicable to Certificate, and year based PG Diploma and Diploma Programmes.

Eg: Student who took admission in Jan 2025 cycle in BA programme is eligible to take 2nd year registration from Jan 2026 session onwards. If candidate fails to take 2nd year Re-Registration (RR) in Jan 2026 session then he can do RR for July 2026 session and so on it can be calculated for subsequent Semester/ Year within the admission validity.

How to apply for Re registration (RR)

IGNOU Accepts  re-registration (RR) form via Samarth portal online.  where student need to select the paper(s) from available options and pay the fee online. All eligible learners of ODL mode and Online (OL) mode learner can now apply online for RR for their next semester / year. Student can also apply for RR without clearing the previous year / Semester paper.

Steps of RR for New student

Student registering for RR First time, they need to create login account in IGNOU Samarth portal. Student need to click on NEW REGISTRATION and proceed as per instruction displayed on the logged in dashboard. Know How to create new account .

Steps of RR for Old Learners

Student need to Login on the Samarth portal and pay the fee for next Year/ Semester RR. If any difficulty in Login then student can Reset the password. If student face any difficulty in Resetting the password then they can contact their Regional Centre via mail or any other channel.

Flexibility in Re-registration (RR)

IGNOU allows Re-registration without passing / writing previous Semester /year papers. Hence Learner can do RR as per their convenience within the Admission validity. However, students are advised to do his/her RR for next year/Semester and pay the Fee on time. 

International students are also advised to submit re- registrations form online via IGNOU Portal. 

Attention IGNOU January 2025 Admission Batch students

Master and Bachelor Degree Student of January 2025 admission batch need to take the admission (RR) for next year or semester.  You can do it without clearing your first year / Semester exam also. RR January 2026 Link has been activated in Student Dashboard at Samarth portal.

RR is not applicable for Certificate programme.

How to check IGNOU Re-Registration (RR) status or Re-registration history ?

Registration history can be checked via IGNOU SAMARTH Portal.  It can be seen after login into your student account at Samarth portal. Once any student applies for RR online via IGNOU Samarth Portal, it may take some time to reflect the re-registration status in the Admission/ Re-registration Portal.

What is IGNOU re registration ? Taking admission to next year / semester.
Who can do IGNOU re registration ? Master Degree and UG Student who have completed the minimum duration of study in previous Year / Semester.
When will I get re registration confirmation? Generally, It reflects immediately, after payment, in the student’s dashboard in IGNOU SAMARTH portal. Sometimes it may take little time to reflect in Dashboard.
