List of Nodal Regional Center published for Counselling classes 

IGNOU has started the conduction of counseling class for January and July 2025 admission students. This list includes the programme from both ODL and OL mode. Concept of NODAL Regional Center for classes has been implemented from 2022 onwards. If any program is having less than 200 students for any admission session then 100% counselling has to be conducted in online mode.

IGNOU Class Schedule is sent by E-mail ID (ending with @ignou.ac.in) from Nodal RC/ Parent RC. Alternatively for quick intimation of class schedule please follow our facebook and twitter page. 

8 Guidelines for Counselling class via Nodal Regional Center

• 1. Nodal RCs (for programs with enrollment less than 200) will hold 100%  academic counselling class sessions entirely online methods (google meet etc.).
• 2. If enrollment for online (OL) programs is very less then counselling will be conducted along with ODL students for that program.
• 3. Nodal RC will plan the schedule and will send it to all the RCs through email asking the RCs to communicate the schedule to their students. Click here
• 4. The Nodal RCs has to schedule the Induction meeting.
• 5. The responsibility of Nodal RC will be confined to the extent of holding academic counselling sessions.
• 6. Though Nodal RC will prepare the counseling schedule, the students will submit the assignments at their respective RCs. It will be the responsibility of the RC (to which student is attached) to get the assignments evaluated.
• 7.The practical counselling for the learners in the above programs will be conducted at the level of the respective Regional Centres (where students are actually enrolled).
• 8. In addition, for semester based and UG/PG degree programs, the Nodal RCs will be the same for Fresh and RR students.

IGNOU Induction meeting

University has a provision of Induction Programme for its new Learner. Generally Induction programme is conducted at each Study Center after the admission is finalised for the Session. However university may decide to conducted even before the entire Admission is finalized for the session .

For Induction programme and its schedule all the student is communicated via Email, SMS or Letter by the Study Center / Regional Center. It is advised to the leaner that once the Admission is confirmed student must be in touch with the Study Center.

IGNOU Academic Counselling class

IGNOU Counselling Class is a tutoring activity held at Study center for ODL mode learners and in online mode for OL learners. IGNOU Classes  are systematically organized in face to face  / online mode sessions during the year, mostly on weekends at the Study Center (SC). Classe are also organized by the Regional Centres in collaboration with the Study Center (SC) in Online mode / Virtual mode. IGNOU Study Center prepares counselling class schedule and intimate to the learners well in advance via post, email, social media etc. 

IGNOU counseling Class for OL (Online) mode learners are conducted through various online platforms such as Google meet, Zoom, YouTube etc. Student may get notification on LMS dashboard or via email.

.IGNOU Counselling refers to interactions between student and institute which are not directly subject related. Since the classes are limited in number ,it is  better to be used for problem solving and clarifying the doubts of the students. Students are advised to read the study material before attending the counselling class.

Why Academic Counselling is important

Counselling in distance education covers all sort of activities related to Student Support. Since IGNOU is based on ODL model, there is no face to face regular classes but it helps the Distance Learner in the form of ACADEMIC COUNSELLING (AC). AC is not restricted only to the subject matter but it is beyond that.

The counselling is the advice on general problems related to part-time and distance study, course choices and further training, examinations, registrations, financial support , payment and placement etc.

Conduct of IGNOU Practical class

IGNOU has launched several academic programmes which have a substantial practical component. Such academic programmes are activated at LSCs (stduy Center) for (ODL Programme ) where there is facility in terms of infrastructure and academic expertise to conduct the practical sessions. Practical sessions are conducted on regular basis on Saturday/ Sundays/ Holidays/ Evening of weekdays. The schedule for conduct of the practicals is drawn at the LSC about a month in advance and the learners are informed to register/ confirm their participation for the practical sessions. Attendance at the practical sessions is compulsory.

For OL Programme Student the practical classes are given in online mode. Student need to keep checking email and website for schedule.

Note : Learners who do not have 75% attendance at the practical sessions of a respective course are not permitted to appear for the practical examination of that course. This is applicable for both ODL and OL Programme Learners.
